Our entire Asian American United Methodist community is shocked and saddened upon hearing the sudden demise of our beloved Bishop Sudha Devadhar.
Bishop Devadhar was a faithful, committed, and transformative episcopal leader in the Asian American United Methodist community. He was also dedicated to the global, connectional United Methodist Church, especially the Methodist Church in India. We as a community have known Bishop Sudha for his compassionate leadership and caring presence in times of need.
Asian American UM community has indeed been blessed by his passion and commitment to the Asian American Language Ministries, which serve 17 language groups, and the New Federation of Asian American United Methodists (NFAAUM).
On behalf of NAFAUM and AALM, we offer our sincere condolences to Mrs. Prema Devadhar and her entire family. We pray that God’s abiding presence and comfort be with the family, Asian American United Methodist Community, and all the annual conferences Bishop Devadhar has faithfully served.
