To our Long Suffering Inang Bayan
Brothers and sisters:
Greetings in the Lord: grace and peace to you!
In the face of the devastation, destruction and death resulting from Typhoon
Yolanda (Haiyan), we are at a loss for words. Nevertheless, we in America and
Canada join with all kababayans in mourning over so much loss, something which
seems too much for a people to bear.
At the same time, we affirm in all of this, that God is. God comes and reassures us,
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.”
NAFAUM has been in touch with members of the College of Bishops in the
Philippines early on in this disaster. We’re coordinating with responders, in so far as
possible, in ascertaining needs. Our people of faith in America and Canada stand in
solidarity with all that suffer, and all efforts in providing succor.
NAFAUM expresses its grateful appreciation for the global outpouring of concern and
compassion in support of the victims of this natural calamity. It’s part of the
evidence that God is at work to heal and make whole.
In the Lord’s name and service,
